Let Yourself Heal

Distractions & Addictions

When on the path of healing it can be very hard to actually get anywhere. In order to actually make progress we have to eliminate our addictions and distractions, the reason for this is that a lot of the time addictions and distractions act as band-aids and cover ups for the trauma we must face. Once we do begin healing, tough things come up that we must work through and deal with. This is not always comfortable and can be very anxiety inducing and painful. It can even feel like we are making things worse. We must trust the process and stay strong, these pains and anxieties are coming up because they have been repressed for years and are finally feeling safe enough to emerge and be transmuted. You must stay strong and not get lost in these feelings. Take a person who uses alcohol or food to cover up there pain and take them away from reality. Once they begin to cut those things out to allow the body to bring up whatever it was the alcohol and food was distracting him from, it is going to suck. This person is really going to feel tempted to grab a drink or eat a burger. However, as much as this sucks, it is great news, once this pain is faced, accepted and dealt with, it dissolves from the body. Not to say it will never come back again but it will loose its strength and grip over that person and become weaker and weaker each time it is transmuted. This is healing, it is a process and it takes time and suffering. To heal you must cut out all distractions and addictions in your life, think outside the box, what do you use to distract yourself from your demons? Some examples are; Internet, Social Media, Reading Books, Porn, Sex, Drinking, Partying, Socializing, TV, Netflix, Food, Coffee, Podcasts, etc . Basically, what is keeping you from being completely with yourself for a few hours a day?
